Boitumelo Radiopane is ready to shimmy back to the pirate ship, but only after completing his current mission with Cape Town Spurs.
Radiopane was sent on loan to Cape Town Spurs to broaden his horizons and boost his chances of becoming a mainstay on the Orlando Pirates’ starting lineup.
The 20-year-old phenom racked up 24 goals in last season’s DStv Diski Challenge, causing many to believe he could be the key to unlocking the Pirates’ inconsistent offense. But, coach Jose Riveiro had other plans and sent him out on loan, much to the chagrin of former Pirates coach Augusto Palacios.
Despite being content with his current team, Radiopane says he’s eager to return to the Sea Robbers and prove himself.
“Getting called back to Pirates would be another chance for me to show my skills. But right now, I’ve got to focus on the task at hand with Cape Town Spurs. We’ve got a big goal to reach, and I can’t just bail on my teammates,” Radiopane told iDiski Times.
“We’ve got a shot at promotion, and I want to see it through. But, whenever Pirates come calling, I’ll be ready to rock and roll. Count on it!”
Radiopane had a rough start to the season, battling injuries and missing proper pre-season training with the team. But, he’s now a regular starter and a crucial player in Cape Town Spurs’ quest for promotion to the Premier Soccer League.
In the current campaign, Radiopane has already bagged four goals.
Radiopane could be making an appearance on Friday in the Nedbank Cup clash against Baroka.
