Keagan Dolly, the soccer star at Kaizer Chiefs, feels he’s been taking the fall for the team’s poor performance. Dolly claims he’s unfairly blamed by critics, even when his performance is top-notch. The Premier Soccer League has seen some ups and downs for Amakhosi, and a recent loss against Golden Arrows only increased pressure on coach Arthur Zwane and the team.
Dolly, an experienced player, is one of the leaders in the squad and maintains he’ll take the heat as he knew the pressure was on when he joined Chiefs. He even welcomes the challenge of dealing with the criticism and feels he’s been handling it well.
However, Dolly thinks he’s become the go-to scapegoat for the team’s shortcomings. He’s been scoring goals and providing assists, but when the team’s performance is not up to par, the blame often lands on him. Nonetheless, Dolly accepts the responsibility as one of the captains and senior players of the team.
Since joining Amakhosi from Montpellier two seasons ago, Dolly has been a top scorer, racking up seven Premier Soccer League goals and five assists in his debut season. In this season, he has scored three goals and provided four assists in 19 PSL matches.
Now, Dolly is gearing up to help Chiefs secure a spot in the Caf Champions League and give them a fighting chance in the Nedbank Cup. And with the Soweto Derby coming up against Orlando Pirates at FNB Stadium, Dolly has an excellent opportunity to help Amakhosi claim bragging rights.
