Orlando Pirates assistant coach Sergio Almenara wasn’t exactly thrilled despite the team’s 2-1 victory over Maritzburg United on Friday. Although goals from Monnapule Saleng and Terrence Dzvukamanja helped the Buccaneers climb into third place on the log, Almenara says that the coaches were not happy with the team’s first-half performance.
In his post-match interview, Almenara explained that they had difficulties with the positioning of the players, which led to a lack of opportunities in the first half. Despite their efforts to fix things at half-time, the team still had a lot of room for improvement. Saleng’s goal just before the break helped the team to regroup, but the coaches were still not satisfied.
Almenara added that the team needed to improve significantly to meet their expectations. Although the goal before half-time was helpful for the mental part, the coaches were not pleased with the overall performance. So, let’s hope that the team will learn from their mistakes and come back stronger in the next match!
