Pitso Mosimane Shuts Down Speculation: “I Didn’t Quit Al Ahly Due to Pressure,” Says Coach of Saudi Arabian Outfit Al Ahli

Pitso Mosimane

Pitso Mosimane, the former Al Ahly coach who now leads the Saudi Arabian squad Al Ahli, has a bone to pick with some recent reports coming out of Egypt. The football coordinator of Al Ahly, Hossam Ghaly, reportedly stated that Mosimane fled the Red Devils due to being overwhelmed by the pressure.

But Mosimane was quick to refute these claims, saying that Ghaly wouldn’t have made such a statement and that someone must have misquoted him. The 58-year-old coach, who has had a highly successful stint at Al Ahly, winning multiple titles including the CAF Champions League, Egypt Cup, and guiding the team to third place in the FIFA Club World Cup twice, chuckled at the idea that he couldn’t handle a little bit of pressure.

Despite Al Ahly’s struggles for consistency in Mosimane’s final months with the club, both parties agreed to part ways on amicable terms. Now at the helm of Al Ahli SC, Mosimane’s goal is to help the team reach promotion to the top tier of Saudi Arabian football by the end of the season. But as for the recent rumors about his departure from Al Ahly, Mosimane simply laughed it off and moved on.
