Well, well, well! It looks like Orlando Pirates’ coach, Jose Riveiro, will be missing out on the upcoming DStv Premiership fixtures, including the epic Soweto Derby, along with four other suspended colleagues.
Apparently, Riveiro received a one-way ticket to the stands during their 2-0 Nedbank Cup win over All Stars. Word on the street is that he had a bit of a tiff with the officials over a delayed substitution. Talk about getting all worked up over nothing!
Due to his red card, Riveiro will be benched for two games, which unfortunately means he’ll be absent for the much-anticipated Soweto Derby. Such a shame, really. It’s like a superhero movie without the hero or a party without the DJ.
On the bright side, Orlando Pirates will be facing off against Maritzburg United on Friday evening. It’ll be a battle of the co-head coaches as Ncikazi and Fadlu Davids take to the sidelines. Who will come out on top? We’ll have to wait and see!
As for Maritzburg United, they’ll be missing their captain, Travis Graham, after he received two yellow cards during their 2-0 loss to Kaizer Chiefs. Tough luck, buddy!
And let’s not forget about the other three players serving suspensions this week: Somila Ntsundwana (Richards Bay), Rodrick Kabwe (Sekhukhune United), and Marks Munyai (TS Galaxy). They’ll be keeping Riveiro and the others company on the naughty step.
