South African Premier Soccer League side Mamelodi Sundowns has enjoyed a successful spell thanks to its Esrom Nyandoro, the head of the scouting department.
Esrom Nyandoro was born in Zimbabwe in 1980. He grew up in a Bulawayo, Matabeleland’s capital city. At a young age, he developed a passion for football, and he joined Zimbabwe Saints following success at Peter Ndlovu’s invitational tournament.
He is known as one of the best defensive midfielders to play in the Zimbabwean national team at the age of 21.
Nyandoro began his professional career in 2001 when he signed with Zimbabwe Saints. He went on to play for Highlanders in Zimbabwe and Mamelodi Sundowns in South Africa, and Botswana.
His major breakthrough came in 2004 when he joined the South African side Mamelodi Sundowns, where he made a name for himself as one of the top players in the league. He cemented his position as one of the most loved players to play in the blue and yellow colours and won three league titles.
Esrom Nyandoro retired from professional football in 2014, after an illustrious career that spanned more than a decade. Since his retirement, he has been studying to become a coach and has been working with Masandawana as their head of scouting.
